CAXTON SWING...it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing...
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How big is the band?

There are eight of us. Normally that means trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocalist.

Where does the band play?

Anywhere! Most of our appearances have been in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and London.

Where can I hear Caxton Swing?

Most of our engagements are private functions but we usually play in public a few times each summer. Keep a look out on our website for details. Alternatively you can listen to the band now.

Why Caxton Swing?

We chose the name because, of all the elements in the music known as jazz, the only one to be found nowhere else is that rhythmic quality we call "swing". It is a quality to be recognised, not to be defined. Whatever some people may say, Bach does not swing, Strauss waltzes do not swing. Louis Armstrong swings, Charlie Parker swings, John Coltrane swings. Unfortunately they are all dead. Caxton Swing is still alive and swingin'!

How much do you charge?

We will give you a quote for your event, depending on the length of the performance, time and location.
